MIROSLAV MIHAź´S VRANOV STILTS THEATRE

DivadloCharacteristics of the theatre: Vranov stilts The theatre began to specialize in street theatre in 1993. In the same year it introduced a dreamy-poetic piece PITTER-PATTER about two lovers in a dream and a place in a bathtub. The goal of the theatre's format is to create an atmosphere of absolute mental wellbeing in contrast to the ordinariness and sorrow of the street and common life. Happy day. The 1995 the theatre used the stilts of its own type and production for the first time. The masks were also introduced. The performance, which was an extention of previous work, was based on dancing and moving theatre. The power of the performance was reflected in its ability to address to more people in the street. In 1996 the theatre began to direct more of its performances toward children. Monsters and a crazy princess is a crazy fairy tale story show which relies on the utalization of verbal expression. Participation of children, use of fire, acrobatic pieces on stilts, and big kinetic masks made the play one of the most successful in the theatre's history. In 1997 the ensemble introduced another fairy tale show, Witches would like to get married too. The last play of this year is called Whooping ghosts and is the based on the same dramatic style.
The theatre took part in several international theatre festivals in Austria, Italy, The Netherlands and Czech republic throughout the last five years. The ensemble also participates with unique ensembles in the Slovak republic.
